Dear Peeps.......What a glorious morning it is here in Idaho. I have to say the sun hasn't shined this bright since last summer and it's doing the mood good:) Oh, I just want to lay on my floor in it and feel it's warmth. How happy and rejuvenated the sun can make the soul feel.
And how happy and rejuvenated can such great blogging friends make one feel. I wanted to say thank you to all who commented on my post about the Versatile Blog Award. Your kind and encouraging comments and hugs left me feeling happy. I have locked up those great feelings in my heart and the kind comments in my e-mail. The post has been deleted, never to be remembered. I want my blog to be a place of remembered happiness for me:)

Just look at this beautiful butter press and paddle. I just about cried (again) when my mother -in- law handed these down to me over the last weekend. I have wanted an authentic paddle for so long. Oh, the wood is so smooth and old and used and beautiful. I love the dove tail on the press. I wonder who owned these and what hands cut them and created them.
Now, I get to find a place in my kitchen to display them. As many of you know, this could turn into an all day project of rearranging and moving things around. Funny how just one new thing can do that:)
But, you know what? I love it.
I truly hope you all have a good weekend. We are going to the furniture store to buy "baby" a big girl bed and matching dresser. She is currently using the old, falling apart, furniture that has been passed down from both big sisters. Then a Happy Meal from McDonald's. Thanks for the visit.
A milestone for a family, for sure! Baby gets a big girl bed! And a really fun way to celebrate! I know our grands always love a stop at McDonalds!
ReplyDeleteLove your 'new' antiques. Your MIL is a blessing.

Ronda
Hi, Steph:
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you're loving the sun today. It's dark and dreary here today. You were gifted with lovely treasures from your MIL to pass along to your children. I hope your baby loves her new big girl bed. My daughter looked so tiny in hers. I had to sleep in her room the first night!
Hugs,
Susan
Soak up a little of that sun for me....We're in the midst of a nasty snow as I type. Have fun furniture shopping! And love your new "gadgets!" Sounds like you have a pretty sweet MIL!! Smiles & Friday Hugs ~ Robin
ReplyDeleteOhhh how I miss the sun, lol!! I think it might be snowing here. Can't decide if it is..or it's just dirt..on my glasses...my very old glasses..lol!!! I get to buy my big ole 18 yo a big boy bed this weekend too! He feels now that he will have his own room, that he deserves a bed! I sent him to the one and only furniture store in town and said $300. He'll be moving out soon (i think, maybe??) so I don't want to spend much at all. He came home a few hundered over Mommy's budget, lol! Now I'll never get him out of bed!
ReplyDeleteI wish I were seeing sun today! It's windy, cloudy and snowing on and off here in Wisconsin.
ReplyDeleteLove your new treasures. So Sweet.
Have fun shopping for a big girl bed.
Enjoy your day!

It is a good and pleasant thing for the eyes to behold the sun, from Ecclesiastes and I have been enjoying a spring like day here too!
ReplyDeleteAmazing old press - does make you wonder who worked with them!
Blessings
Christine
You know I have lots of old "stuff" but the history in the hand me downs are so special. So wonderful to be gifted from your MIL.We have a few special pieces from family but most of my things the history will start with me.Your girls will treasure the handed down pieces when they are older.Warm Blessings!~Amy
ReplyDeleteSharing your happiness rubs off and makes us fill happy to. Oh to just lay in the sun & soak up those warm rays would fill so good. I am longing for time in the sun while tending the gardens. How wonderful you have the wood mold & paddle. My Pap left me his that were his mothers & used when he was a child. Still hoping to get the butter bowl. Another family member has it. The wood is always so beautiful in these old pieces. Hope you found the furniture for your little girl. Blessings!

What a wonderful MIL you have to think of you and pass those treasures down to you! I love lying in the sunshine too, I often doze off on the couch while the warm sun shines through our living room window on these wintery days, it feels so good! Hope you had a fun time at McDonald's and bed shopping for you little one! Its always nice to buy a new bed after getting hand me downs, yup, with 5 kids I know what that's like! Have a fantastic weekend,
ReplyDeleteHugs, Trish
Hi, Steph,
ReplyDeleteWhat wonderful goodies from your sweet MIL. That butter press is to die for!! Lucky you to have sun where you are, February is such a dreary gray month were I live.
Hugs,
Melinda
Such great gifts!
ReplyDeleteHope you have a wonderful weekend!
I'm surprised Mom didn't tell you who that belonged to, I'm sure she knows! I think it might have belonged to someone on her side of the family, maybe her dad or her grandpa. :) I'm sure she'd love to tell you. I am glad that it has found a happy home at your place! It looks great next to that sifter.
ReplyDeleteHi Steph, Thank you for always stopping by my blog and leaving a sweet comment for all of us--really appreciate it. Brian reads all the comments and has been really touched by how everyone has been in support. I have a butter mold just like yours!! It was just bought at an antique show though--not special from a family member like yours. That grouping looks so prim and kitcheny!! :) hugs, Jan
ReplyDeleteHow funny that you made that comment about laying in the warmth of the sun. I just posted a picture on my blog of my youngest son and our dog laying by the door in the warmth of the sun today. I wanted to make them scoot over and share with me, haha!
ReplyDeleteOh girl, I am loving your new goodies! I just started collecting butter paddles this past year and the ones like yours are way more expensive than the straight ones like I have bought. I've been wanting to collect the butter presses too but they are so expensive here. Haven't found any that I'm willing to pay that much for. I collect sifters too and it's fun to find the different kinds. But all antiques are much better when they come from within your family... you are fortunate girl~
