A year after we moved to Idaho someone asked me if we had been to the hills to see the Camel at Christmastime. I said "to see the what? There is a camel in Idaho?" I couldn't believe that someone has a camel. So we took the drive to Hanson where there is the biggest lights display in the valley and the infamous "Christmas Camel". It has been a yearly tradition since.
Tonight we get to go feed the Camel his carrots and to walk around and see the wonderful display of lights. It is going to be so much fun!!

How pretty! What a great Christmas display so close to home. We may be going to ours tonight, but ours doesn't have that awesome camel! :( He is beautiful!

That must have been so much fun. My kids loved these pictures and kept asking 'who is that girl', 'what is her name', 'why does she get candy from Santa', ....

Hi Steph! I'm just imagining the sparkle in the eyes of your girls when they see all the lights. That's a wonderful family event for all of you! There are several outdoor huge light displays in western pa./eastern ohio, but a little drive for us. It was Ok when the kids were little , but now we just drive around the neighborhoods to see lights. The expression on the camel's face lokks like he knows he is the star of the show! :) --Jan

ReplyDeleteThere used to be a living nativity where I used to live - with animals and I don't know if it was a camel or a dromedary. Anyway there were several - along with Roman soldiers, harassing the people in the crowd (just for fun) about paying our taxes. It was set up like Bethlehem, and it meandered around, going from market to inns, and to the fields where the sheep and other animals were. I miss it.
Wowsers!! That's some light show!! Cool beans!! But, oh....I LOVE that camel!!! For some reason, I've always had a soft spot for camels.... (strange I know....) Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

If you are still having issues with your Middle and dogs. I would start by going to the pet store and having a visit with a pup. There’s no rules that you can’t play with them and not buy. Or go to the humane society and do the same. Start with small dogs and gradually get bigger. Talk to the workers and ask which big dogs are timid and shy. It can do wonders for your Middle. That’s how I got my 3 kids okay with BIG puppers. Also all dogs are puppies to me. No matter what age or size. And puppies can nip, claw, and nibble. They just want to be loved. If you show them love they will return it. Love goes a long way. Not all dogs are mean and nasty, those traits are typically trained.
