Merriment Chain ~ Day 17 ~ Pine Cone Pedestals

During the Fall I gathered some candle holders from GW.  I had in mind that I wanted to use them to hold some waxed and grunged pine cones for Christmas.  They smell really good, but you can't really tell they have been treated.  I usually display them in my dining room window, but I moved them to this crate for a picture.

I know I should just be enjoying each day as they come during the holidays, but seriously if we could just get this week over with I will be a lot happier.  I am such a child inside and the excitement of going to visit family and having Christmas day is just about killing me:)  At least next week I can start packing, and cleaning, and wrapping, and all the great stuff to prepare.

This chain has really given me a chance to take each day and celebrate the merriness of the holidays.  Just really what I should be doing.

Merriment Chain ~ Day 12 ~ Antique Bulbs

Somehow this day has gotten away from me!!  We had a children's Christmas party for DH's work this morning and have been shopping and preparing for our Church Christmas party that is this evening. (Sweetie is in charge of putting it together).  So, we have been pre-occupied here. 

 I did want to show some pictures of the little tree I have upstairs in the family room.  I put my antique bulbs on it that were handed down to me.  They were once my Grandmother's.

This is my attempt at putting two pictures together.  See the lovely popcorn strings we made the other night?  I also waxed some icicles and grunged them up good.  The heat from the lights make them smell really yummy.

It has been a long day here and I am ready to call it a night.......just as soon as the last Christmas party is over:) 

Merriment Chain ~ Day 10 ~ Better Not Pout Virginia

Last year I was having an amazing streak of good luck and won this precious doll from Marie.  I tell you I loved her the moment I saw her.  She has always had a special place in my heart.  Not everyone appreciates Virgina.  I may have, or not have, had to promise to keep her upstairs in the family room away from visitors.  But, my promise was broken and Virginia sits in the front entry way this Christmas for everyone to see.

Merriment Chain ~ Day 9 ~ Entry Way Hall Chair

Guess what I am doing this morning prim friends?  Tee hee hee, nothing:)  Well, nothing that I don't want to do anyway.  This morning I rearranged my  schedule to allow me to take this time to myself.  So I am blogging, making crafts, and doing my Christmas cards.  I was clapping and being giddy all the way home from taking the kids to school knowing that I could just put on Christmas music and be in my jammies all morning.

Merriment ~ Day 7~ Pajama Santa

This is Pajama Santa.  He sits and watches over the goodies that sit on my table.  We always enjoy to have treats around throughout the season.

*Tonight we are making popcorn chains.  I bet more will get eaten than strung:)*

Merriment Chain~ Day3~ Bottle Brush Tree Bowl Fillers

Good Morning Friends.  I have enjoyed everyone's visits so much over the last couple of days.  Thank you for the sweet comments too.  I love blogging because of the wonderful friendships that can be born through it.

Today I thought I would show you a simple display of a few bottle brush trees.  I tried to put several in the bowl, then rearranging them in various ways.  I ended up with just the three.  All in a row.  So simple, yet somehow pretty.  

I wanted to grunge them, but certain little hands love to play with them.  If you can think of a way to grunge them up without having them become toxic or messy, I would love to know how.

Here is the full display. For some reason.  This speaks to me.  I just love it.

I think "Baby Frog" may be ready for Christmas.  I found her laying on the floor like this the other day. Really, I didn't put that hat there:)

This is what happens when you have two girls in the same size clothing.  Can anyone say LAUNDRY?

I had just finished washing and putting it away last night and couldn't believe how much I had to do.  It took me all day.

Over the last three days I have been through six cake mixes and pounds of powdered sugar.

"Oldest" had a birthday.  I made cupcakes for her class and individual cakes for her party and a purse cake for her family party.

 Then, two weeks ago "Baby" had a birthday and wanted a Special Agent Oso cake.

My First Primitive Christmas

I have noticed that a few of you are starting to post pictures of your Christmas decor.  Everyone's homes look so cozy and inviting.  I wanted to wait until I was totally done to take pictures of my home, but I don't think it will ever quite be "done".  I will always be adding or moving things around throughout the season.  I still can't figure out how to take a decent picture of something dimly lit and some of them are fuzzy.  But, that's ok.  I love the way the soft white lights make the home feel and the smell of the Christmas candle makes everything so inviting.  

This is my entryway.  See the white pumpkins?  I was going to through them out after Thanksgiving but thought they might look nice still.  

The paper ornaments are homemade with a pattern from Tammy's

 A Primitive Place and the star garland is from Linda.  I love that Santa's in his pajamas.

I love these little gingerbread men staring out at me.  I made them this summer.  Chestnuts from Linda.

The sign says "The Simple Things" which just about ties it all up.  I love the simple things in life.

This is the "family"tree full of ornaments for the kids and past ones from my childhood. My DH chopped it down from the forest.

"And the stockings were hung by the chimney with care in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there"

I am just starting my village collection.  It sits on my mantle.

This Santa is not primitive but you have to admit, He's pretty neat.  I love the scene etched onto his robes.

My primitive tree on the kitchen table is full of wooden and tin ornaments all the way around.

It's Christmas for prairie doll too.  I wrapped up a box with a paper bag and grunged it with shoe polish and cinnamon.  The string is coffee dyed too.  It's really a lot cuter in person.

Last but not least.  My tree upstairs is filled with vintage ornaments from my Grandmother Bean.

~Thanks for looking at my "simple"primitive Christmas.  I love looking at everyone else's homes too.  You are all so inspiring to me.  Without you, I wouldn't know how things were to look or how to make them.  There is a little part of everyone in my house this year.

CHRISTMAS IN JULY- Christmas Tree Display

I had so much fun finding pictures for this weeks display day. Christmas tree stands weren't even used until 1876 so it seems fit to display your Christmas tree in crock or barrel. Each tree is unique in it's own sphere. Then fitting it into a vintage container and making a display with it creates some awesome "eye candy". Have fun looking.
