Historic Primitive House

Warning: PHP-Like I am not kidding.
Here are all the pictures I took of the house that I toured in Paris, Id.  The owner bought this place and restored it to the time period it was built in.  He is a major collector and every piece is authentic.  I kept snapping pictures with my phone like a kid in a candy store and I am sure he thought I was just crazy.  Someday, in another life, I want to have a home just like this.

Countryside baby shower

I have the most incredible sisters-in-law.  They are all so creative and thoughtful and make all our family get together's more enjoyable with their individual touches.  We had a beautiful baby shower for one of them tonight and despite the wind blowing things away, it was amazing.
I love vintage touches to things and some of the main decor pieces were borrowed from a local antique shoppe.

As always, I stole some alone time for a picture walk while visiting Bear Lake.  Normally I like to drive myself around, but today I just strolled around the block and took advantage of the things right near.

This has long been one of my most favorite homes in Paris.  The owners only live there for a few weeks during the summer, but the grounds are always kept and the house preserved.  I was lucky enough to get a tour of it this weekend and will show pictures of the inside in my next post.  It doesn't dissapoint!

Wishing you all a wonderful happy July day!

Gems on Highway 30

On Highway 30 heading to Bear Lake, right over Fish Creek Pass, there is a beautiful valley full of green farmlands.  In the middle of these fields are two gems.  For years I've passed these houses and have never taken the time to stop for photographs until this weekend.  It was a quiet evening, just at the right time when the setting sun throws amazing rays and shadows.  My brother, who is a photographer, and I set out together for a little drive to capture these amazing houses. It was serene with the fields, beautiful blue sky, mountains, nature, and quiet.

This is an entrance to a mine.  It is found in Paris Canyon.

Spring on the Front Porch

..........and then a miracle happened.  Just as it does every year, it turned to Spring.
We have been busy around here.  Already hubby has mowed, thatched, mowed again, fertilized and watered the lawn (twice).  We have cleared out the garden plot, planted sunflowers, pulled out bushes, relocated ornamental grasses, and repainted the front door.
I have redone displays around the house in fresh soft colors and flowers.  The new scent for the season is my favorite.  Lemon Pound Cake scentsy fills the house this time of year.
Mother Nature is also hard at work flowering our trees and bushes with pretty buds.
The girls have been riding bikes and scooters, playing at the park, blowing bubbles and jumping on their new trampoline.  Hubby has had the boat out and has been fishing already.
It's a great time of year at Front Porch Primitives.

Happiest of Springs to you.

Antique Wooden Tool Box~ Patience is a Virtue

For 8 long years I quietly waited.  I kept it a secret, but in my heart I coveted this very tool box that now sits in my entry way (for now).  It was my Grandfather's and it sat in my Mother's house driving me crazy because I knew I wanted it so badly.
Long story short, she recently moved into a new home and gifted it to me.
Hooray!  Day of all days.  I took it home and washed the old wood.  I can tell you from a few experiences that wet, old, wood really stinks.  I cleaned out all the rusty screws and unknowns and then tenderly rubbed coconut oil into the wood to bring out the grain and the patina.
Oh, joy!
Patience is a Virtue.

A perfect place to organize my scentsy wax melts.
Scent of the month- Gain fabric softener.  Yup, they make wax melts too.
