I have always been captivated by how school must have been for children in the early 1900's. I remember watching "Little House On The Prairie" as a young girl. The school and recess scenes were always my favorite. As my own two children get ready to return to school this next week, I think the anticipation must have been nearly the same back then.

hi, Steph
So enjoyed all the photos of past school days~I can remember my Grandpa & Grandma telling me they dreaded going to school~ so funny I was the same~ I wanted to stay home & play, then when I got older I just wanted to work on the farm~ I guess it was the farm calling me~ as it still does each day~
Wishing your children an enjoyable school year~

Thanks for sharing the wonderful pictures of days gone by! I have 3 antique school desks, one is big the other 2 are small. I love collecting old school supplies to go with them, so much fun!
Some of the pictures rekindle great memories for me. I went to school barefooted until there was snow on the ground. It was a two-room school house. We called them the Big room and the Little room. 1st thru 4th in the Little room and 5th thru 8th in the Big room. There were 4 kids, that includes me, in my class--Marsha Townsend, Judy Rockel, Jack Zeh and me. After 5th grade, they closed our little school and we were bussed to another school. It was a great time to be a kid. We had Dick and Jane readers. I took 2nd and 3rd grade in one year. Mrs, Waymack taught all 4 grades, of course. Ah, a trip down memory lane....running home at noon for lunch with Mom--homemade donuts... Thanks, Steph!
Many blessings,
★Linda★
