My Grandmother Petersen never threw anything or gave anything away. Before she passed, my mother and I would travel to her house to take care of the cleaning and such. She was so thankful for my service that she blessed me with this heirloom piece. I put it in the closet because I didn't have room for it in my little apartment at that time. Then the kids started coming and I left it there so it wouldn't get ruined. We moved it to several different homes and across thousands of miles and back. Last week I finally decided that the kids were old enough not to ruin it now so I brought it out. I rediscovered it's beauty and did a little research on it. It was made in the 1920's by Albert M. Lock & Son Inc. The design is a reproduction of the "Covered Wagon Rocker" designed by Collignon. Adam Collignon designed this type of chair to minimise the space taken up on a covered wagon as the pioneers crossed the plains. You can read more information about them here. That's so beautiful! Mike and I went to an old ranch today here in Colorado, and when we were inside the ranch house, I kept thinking, "Steph would love this stuff." We got pictures of some of it - I'll be posting them on facebook or the blog soon.
