My First Primitive Christmas

I have noticed that a few of you are starting to post pictures of your Christmas decor.  Everyone's homes look so cozy and inviting.  I wanted to wait until I was totally done to take pictures of my home, but I don't think it will ever quite be "done".  I will always be adding or moving things around throughout the season.  I still can't figure out how to take a decent picture of something dimly lit and some of them are fuzzy.  But, that's ok.  I love the way the soft white lights make the home feel and the smell of the Christmas candle makes everything so inviting.

This is my entryway.  See the white pumpkins?  I was going to through them out after Thanksgiving but thought they might look nice still.

The paper ornaments are homemade with a pattern from Tammy's
A Primitive Place and the star garland is from Linda.  I love that Santa's in his pajamas.

I love these little gingerbread men staring out at me.  I made them this summer.  Chestnuts from Linda.

The sign says "The Simple Things" which just about ties it all up.  I love the simple things in life.

This is the "family"tree full of ornaments for the kids and past ones from my childhood. My DH chopped it down from the forest.

"And the stockings were hung by the chimney with care in hopes that St. Nicholas soon would be there"

I am just starting my village collection.  It sits on my mantle.

This Santa is not primitive but you have to admit, He's pretty neat.  I love the scene etched onto his robes.

My primitive tree on the kitchen table is full of wooden and tin ornaments all the way around.

It's Christmas for prairie doll too.  I wrapped up a box with a paper bag and grunged it with shoe polish and cinnamon.  The string is coffee dyed too.  It's really a lot cuter in person.

Last but not least.  My tree upstairs is filled with vintage ornaments from my Grandmother Bean.

~Thanks for looking at my "simple"primitive Christmas.  I love looking at everyone else's homes too.  You are all so inspiring to me.  Without you, I wouldn't know how things were to look or how to make them.  There is a little part of everyone in my house this year.

It's truly hard to believe that this is your "first" primitive Christmas - looks like you have it down very well. Everything is looking wonderful - love your paper ornaments from Tammy's pattern and that prairie doll with her package - and your upstairs tree with those vintage ornaments is gorgeous!! You did super Girlfriend! (And you're way ahead of me in the decorating department!!) I vote you keep the white pumpkins - just add little Santa or snowmen hats and you'll be good to go!! ;o) Wishing you a wonderful week ahead....Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

Ohhh I love your tree. Your hubby did a great job. When I purchased mine the lady was showing me all these perfectly trimmed trees. I kept saying no, no, no...Then she said these are my Charlie Brown trees..and I said YES!! She looked at me like ok lady..if this is what you want, lol!! There is one branch on mine though..that I think needs to go!! I also love your idea of wrapping the little package for the prairie dolls. I think I am stealing your idea if you don't mind. Maybe I'll try some of your candy canes..and make them small..and then the packages to Christmas up my dolls!! GREAT ideas!! Great Christmas!!! Katie

I love your Christmas decorating, it's wonderful! Don't you just love having handmades from prim friends or even your own handmades that the ideas come from prim friends, all over your home? That's what makes it all so special! We've got the tree with the kids ornaments also so I had to have some more trees that weren't so traditional but more prim, hehe. Looks great girl!
