Pretty Primitive Pitcher

Sometimes....not very often......but sometimes, when I am walking around the Home Decor store, or the antique shop, or wherever I may be, a certain item will literally throw itself off of the display and into my arms.   It's like a magnet in my hands~a string around my heart, and I can't let go.
Today was one of those days. And this was the culprit.  My DH (already being Mr. Wonderful for coming into a shop laden with women because the three little one's were begging to come in too and they needed to be watched so I could shop) promptly removed it from my hands for fear I would drop it, and carried it all over the store following after me.  It's nice to have a husband who understands the "I can't pry it out of my hands" syndrome.
Maybe I am dying for some hint of Spring and the yellow color hit my emotions this morning, maybe it's the amazing display of primitive meets modern femininity. Whatever it is, I can't put my finger on it.  This pitcher vase just speaks to me and I love it.

I also found a couple of things at Good Will earlier this week.  Alas, another pitcher.  I found this object that resembles a pantry box and thought I could make it over.  So if anyone has had experience with this, tell me how to do it.

Also, I picked up a book from the library this week.  It's a young adult reader ( I have to "shop" around in the Young Adult section because it's right near the children books).  It's a historical fiction (my favorite) about Marry Todd Lincoln (Abraham Lincoln's wife) and Elizabeth Keckley (a girl born into slavery) and their extraordinary friendship.  It is really good so far.

My heart goes out to many of my blogging friends and family this weekend.  Challenges and trials and tears and pain have arisen in some of your lives this week and I worry about you all.  I sit in my house and wonder why things have to happen and then feel so blessed that for now, I am enjoying a peaceful season in my life.  I wish I could help somehow.  I feel so helpless.  All I can do is visit, encourage, and pray.

So, anyway, I hope everyone is having a restful weekend as life is allowing.  My evening will be spent watching the kids and reading.  I will probably end up tickling some backs, and playing tea set, and watching movies too:)
Tomorrow we are going to church and then having a slow cooked roast for dinner.  My hubby has it marinating in Dr. Pepper, olive oil, and garlic already.  Yummy.  Take care.

Something about yellow in the late of winter. I have a yellow pitcher I like too. You know Steph I agree there are so many fellow bloggers having heartaches, but we can pray for them. It is amazing the prayers we say for people we only know through cyber.I know so many have been said for Amanda. A tea party with three little girls sounds like the best way ever to spend some time. Enjoy

Steph, you were cracking me up! But yes, I know just what you are talking about girl! I get so very excited too when I find something that is just right. I love that yellow pitcher, it is very pretty and perfect for spring.

Love your GW goodies also, have fun making the box over. I know that no matter what you do, it will look great!

When I read all the comments on my post asking for prayers, I just broke down in tears. I've been emotional anyway but to have so much encouragement, support, and prayer was so very, very touching!! Yes, thank YOU for your encouragement. It means more to me than you will every know, my sweet friend! =]

I've done several pantry boxes and I did them just like I would anything wood. Painting, sanding, staining and adding a label. I have also decoupaged fabric on them. I think they all turned out great! Good luck!
Love all your goodies!
