Tuesday Display Chain~ Mary Has A Garden

Good morning peeps!!  Today is Tuesday Display Chain.  Misi and Traci have teamed up to make this one a very special one and I am so excited.  The theme is "Mary, Mary quite contrary.  How does your garden grow?"
Well, I'll tell you how my garden grows.....it doesn't.  I admit, I wasn't born with a green thumb.  Not light green, dark green, mint green, yellow-green, puke green, sage, forest, or lime.  But, year after year after year I just keep on a tryin.  I plant and water and wait.  I love to spend that time with my family.  Even if it doesn't produce huge amounts of vegies or even come up for that matter. It's fun for us to have a project to work on together.
Here is what I hope to achieve this summer.  We planted corn, peas, carrots, onions, and beets this last Friday.  Next month I will put in the tomato, squash, beans, and gourds.

I don't understand why dresses are required for planting a garden, but it seems like the kids are always in Sunday shoes and dresses when we yard work.

They did really well this year with the planting.  They needed just a little guidance.

And that is the extent of my gardening skills.  I will plant some peppers in pots later and maybe try some herbs.  I love to look at all your wonderful gardens and flowers and plants throughout the summer.  So, now I am off to see what everyone else is doing for thier gardens this year.
Have a great Tuesday.

I'd say you have three pretty Mary's and budding gardeners, Steph! Love that pic of them tip-toeing in the soil wearing 'Sunday Best'! Memories are best made that way!

Morning Steph~
I think it's wonderful that your girls show interest in gardening, regardless of their dress code! Might be a little extra on the laundry duty, but so worth it. The grandsons really have enjoyed planting things at home and with us. My daughter started Jonas out when he was about 18 mos. letting him put the soil in cardboard egg cartons, then seeds for squash and peppers. She would explain to him when the seedlings started and it went on from there. Very important to teach these little ones about how things grow!
Enjoy your day my friend~
hugz,
Sheila

Wonderful garden planning. You could show us this plan again in a few months, next to a new picture full of veggies! We planted some little pre-grown vegetable plants in our greenhouse, but the tomato plants are gone already. We're still having freezing temperatures some nights :(. I hope our weather changes soon. When I read blogs from Oregon, it reminds me of our typical weather. Bleh *cry*, need some sun!

Hi, Steph,
I think that it is wonderful that your garden is a family effort. You will enjoy the fruits of your labor that much more since it is a group thing. I have always just done flower and herb gardening, maybe a couple of tomatoes in pots. I don't know how everybody can stay clean in white tights! You should see me when I work in the yard...it ain't pretty!

Fine girls to be proud of. So many will not take part in gardenig. Lost in this day & time is the knowledge of growing ones own food & working together as a family. This will surely carry on in the girls own gardens one day while they share the memories made together in your garden as young girls. Your soil looks so rich & soft. Seeing the girls all dressed so fine is cute. Recently while planting pea seeds I took a look at myself & thought. Well your no Martha Stewart. I get dirty from head to toe. Wishing you a wonderful growing season & a bountiful harvest . Blessings!

What precious little garden elves you have Steph! They are so, so, sweet! I can't imagine your plants not flourishing with such magical touches.....Yeah - that must be what I'm doing wrong - forgot the white tights. I happened to start pulling a few dandelions yesterday, and that led to a bit more, and my neighbor stopped by - took one look at me and said "what the heck happened to YOU?" Ummmmm....I'm not a white tights gardener I guess....Have so enjoyed your contributions to the chain these past Tuesdays.....Smiles & Hugs ~ Robin

Gardening is so much work, but so worth it. How wonderful that your children like to help, they are adorable. Love the outfits. Reminds me of my daughter, she always wanted to be in her Sunday Best and go out an make mud pies. What great memories you are making with your children (even if you don't have enough produce for a stand lol)Blessings ~Sara
