Still Shots and Photo Bombs

I was sifting through some old photos the other day and found this one I took on a summer walk last year.  The rest of the house had been remodeled in the late 60's I am guessing.  It was an old house too, but the original door had been left.  I loved the colors and wear.  The weathering that gives it the appearance of patina is what really caught my eye.  If you can see the knob it's the original as well.  I thought it was quaint that the owner dressed the window in lace curtains.
(I did mess with the pictures and put an overlay on it)

The apple blossoms on our tree are beautiful and smell so good right now.  Most of the blossoms around here are white, but occasionally you will run across a tree that's fiery pink.  The blossoms on the apple tree are so pretty as they are a cross between that pretty pink and white.  With the green as a contrast background, I couldn't resist a picture.

This is why I like to stick with still shots instead of the "human" kind, although I am not sure these three are really human most of the time:)  There is always at least one kid that's going to "photo bomb" the picture every time.
I took at least 10 Easter photos and didn't even get one decent picture.  You'd think they were toddlers still they way they behave when a camera is in front of them!
Cuties!!!
Have a wonderful week.

Snippets of Spring

There is nothing like Spring and being able to refresh the house with sweet flowers (even if they are silk) and pretty colors.
I like to think about what the pioneer women might have had to bring into their cabins, shanties, soddies, or dugouts, to make thier home more beautiful and happy for their loved ones.
I know it would have been all the wonderful wild flowers growing around.  They would have filled pots, bowls, metal dishes, or whatever they had with them.
Happy Spring Day!

Spring Mantel

I can't tell you how happy I am that Spring has arrived.
It has been so long since I have wanted to dive in and change things up.  So when the mood hit, I knew I had to act fast.
I found my inspiration and I didn't deviate too much from there.  Accept, for some reason, my disply looks a little more shabby than I like.  I was lamenting all night though because Hubby and I were cleaning out the garage last Fall and threw away a cubby shelf that would have been perfect for this display. It really would have primmed it up well.  Argh, I never thought in a million years I would need it!  Never again will I throw things away.
"Middle" already commendeerd my porcelain birds and they have been flying all over the house.
Happy Spring Everyone!

Frosty January

Not much snow to speak of here, but the frost has been unbelievable.  These photos don't do Jack justice.  For 2 weeks straight we had frost and inch thick all over the trees and bushes.  The clouds were low and everything was so beautiful.

Bundle up my friends.

Christmas Snippets

Just a few snippets from the Christmas decor.  If I photoshoped all of them to post it would take me all season.

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday.

Grungy Pioneer Make-Do

Last year they were bowl fillers, year before they were shelf sitters, and this year they are make-do's.  No matter what they are, they are going to be in my home for years.  They are a constant reminder to me that I can make anything I want and a reminder to my children that I can stitch mouths shut!!! Ha Ha Ha. No seriously though, their mouths are kinda strange.  That's what I love about them.
 Have a wonderful Fall Day!

Beautiful Bear Lake

I don't know how many posts I have done on the Bear Lake Valley.
I show new pictures every time go.  Taking a drive around the valley and lake to photograph is one of the things I look forward to the most.

Sometimes I wish I lived here instead of just having to visit.  I could just step out my back patio and photograph all day.  It sure would be a life style change.  Hubby would have to most likely commute through the Logan Canyon to work in Utah and I would have to learn to be a country girl.  Most people here own plenty of land with cows, chickens, dogs, cats, pigs, horses, etc.  I would have to become a good online shopper and be willing to drive a ways for things.
Oh, but the air would be so crisp and clean, the surroundings so beautiful, the mountains just seconds away, a more meaningful lifestyle, and a place where roots could grow deeper.
I know what I am thinking about today:)
