Had to have it right then

I have been looking through every one's blogs and it has become apparent to me that it is time to start putting up some patriotic decor, except........I don't have any.  Gasp!!!  It wasn't until after July 4th last year that I decided to take the plunge into primitive decor for my home.  Every new season and holiday requires a lot of planning, buying, and making in order to get things to look right. I usually just focus on my entry way for right now for these frequent changes.
Anyway, last night I was looking through blogs and pictures to get some much needed inspiration.  Only, I was just feeling sorry for myself.  I have a small problem of wanting everything....right now:)  I needed to satisfy my desire for something with flags on it.  And anytime less than right then wouldn't work.  So, in between the kid's bath time and bed time I whipped this baby up.
I had a ugly trivet I found at GW just sitting in the corner of my room.  It's been there for months.  It was already this bland color of red so I just painted a mustard over it.  Then I put the flag in the middle, sanded it up, put the letters and numbers on the sides and stained it good.
Ta Da...  Primitive patriotic decor for me:)

Today is the last day of school and then I get the monkeys home for the  summer.  A whole new adventure is beginning.  This morning I sat down and put a chore chart together, a daily summer schedule, and a calendar of all the events, classes, and trips we will be taking.  So as far as this afternoon goes...
Summer has officially begun!!!!!
Thanks for visiting.  I would love to know you were here:)

Great job! No 4th of July for me ofcourse. I'm a bit jealous because you have more holidays to decorate for. Maybe I could invent some ;-)?

I have 3 weeks left before the monkeys are home for summer. I'd better do some necessary chores before that!

Hi Steph! I think you did a great job on your redo!! Very creative !I don't have many americana pieces either so I am working on collecting a few for my redo of our front hallway. I did swap with a crafter and got a wonderful flag wrapped wreath--good thing I did...she retired a couple months later!! I'm just trying to add a few pieces at a time!--Jan

Woo Hoo! Great job Steph!! Really? You've only been into prim for less than a year? Wow....that surprises me! I think you've got an amazing collection under way already....I've been a "collector" (hoarder???) for many, many years - my mother would say since I was born... ;o) Have fun....and YEA for summer vacation!!! That looks great! I have only had my own place/decorated prim for about 3years and I still feel overwhelmed when I see how far along others are with their decorating. Then I think of how much fun it is to constantly have room to add more and change :)
